Base rates and derivatives positioning
How often this coin has actually managed a move of a given size in 30 days, and how the perpetual market is positioned right now.
Included with Pro+
Base rates turn a price target into a frequency: how often a move that size has happened before.
Where it came from
Avalanche came out of a 2018 paper published pseudonymously as Team Rocket and was developed at Cornell by a group around Emin Gun Sirer. Ava Labs launched the mainnet in September 2020. The novelty was the consensus family itself: repeated random sampling of validators rather than every node hearing every vote.
What it does
Avalanche runs three chains with different jobs, so exchange, contract and coordination traffic do not compete for the same block space. Its second design bet is the subnet, later renamed an Avalanche L1: an application can run its own chain with its own rules and its own validator set while staying inside the network.
What moves the price
- Every transaction fee on the network is burned rather than paid to validators, so activity permanently removes AVAX from supply.
- Validators must stake AVAX to run a node, and validating a subnet historically required also validating the primary network, which tied new chains to locked supply.
- The unlock schedule from the 2020 token sale, which releases tranches on fixed dates and is public rather than discretionary.
- Enterprise and institutional deployments choosing a dedicated L1, which is the specific demand the subnet architecture was built to serve.

What the market implies for the Avalanche price
Every open market that names a Avalanche price level, ordered by how far that level is from today. The price is what traders currently pay for it. Measured against $9.73
Levels above the price
Levels below the price
A historical frequency, not a probability. It counts how often the move happened in the last three years of daily closes; a change in regime breaks it. Market prices are live and move. 13 more open markets on this coin do not name a price level.
Historical frequency, other venues, options
How often this coin has actually covered each of these distances in a window of that length, what Kalshi charges for the same question, and for bitcoin and ether what the options market implies.

The market price says what traders charge. The base rate says how often it has happened. Seeing both in one row is the whole point.
